Washington County is home to some of the country’s most beautiful natural scenery, including the Jackson-Washington State Forest and Lake Salinda, an 86 acre lake built in 1949 and is part of 160 natural acres. For familiy activities, Delaney Park offers cabin rentals, boats rentals, modern and primative camping sites, fishing, swimming, a 58 mile Knobstone Hiking Trail, and more. History buffs will enjoy several activities in Washington County including: the Stevens Memorial Museum built in 1970, Pioneer Village located just behind the Stevens Memorial Museum, the John Hay Center which is home to a restored rail road station and 1929 Monon caboose, and Becks Mill a late 1800s mill which was recently restored to its original condition. Racing enthusiasts will enjoy Salem Speed offering over 50 years of racing and has hosted some of the giants of auto racing including: Mario Andretti, Darrell Waltrip, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, Jeff Gordon, and many more. Golf, wine tasting, trail riding, and traditional sports activities are also available within Washington County.
